Parents need to understand that simply reading a series of books isn't going to make a child violent, a sex addict or craving heroine. That is entirely down to who they choose to be around as well as their parents being good role models. A terrific crime novel with an explosive climax, the book dares to find a level of empathy with its young perpetrators, connecting the dots between being frightened and "walking around in the dark" and turning to hate. A moving, grippingly relevant mystery.

The Recruit is the first book in the series, where James after moving to CHERUB is sent on a mission that turns out to be one of the biggest in CHERUB history. He must foil a major terrorist plan by the environmental terrorist group Help Earth, who plan to kill every major oil baron in the world, all at once.Various manufacturers of cell phones and video game equipment brands (Nokia, PlayStation) are mentioned in passing. Gaudens, Reed (November 16, 2022). "The Recruit starring Noah Centineo release date, cast, synopsis, trailer, and more". Netflix Life . Retrieved November 21, 2022.

Although the book has been given many positive critiques, there are some minor issues with the book. There seems to be some places where 'heavy' swear words are being uses and the use of alcohol and cigarettes. These things can be disturbing for younger readers as it can negatively influence them especially since kids are doing these actions. Also, at times, minor information as well as details were taking over particular parts of the novel which can be quite boring for readers as it will disinterest them. Finally, there are some places where suspense and 'punch' is not quite written in detail which doesn't quite accentuate the meaningfulness of a particular action. However, if you have the disease, your chances of survival decrease with every minute treatment is delayed, so we’re going to assume the worst and begin treatment now.”Gaudens, Reed (December 16, 2022). "The Recruit episode titles: What do the acronyms mean?". Fansided/Netflix Life . Retrieved December 16, 2022. this is an amazing book I read it in one from front to cover without a break!! 5 and a half stars!! I suppose there is violence, but...this is a secret agent/spy book, so...seems fitting. Curse words pop up, other reviewers mentioned them- I think its more realistic to how kids actually behave when parents aren't in earshot and therefore, easier for the target audience (11+) to identify with the characters. Drew highlights what it's like to be a lost teenager looking for community in the worst possible places, whether it's a Vietnamese girl who loves someone she shouldn't or a white boy putting his trust in poisonous ideology. That's just one of the many ways in which The Recruit, set in 1987, feels almost contemporary. Title meaning: "That Sounds Like a You Problem" (Technically, Owen says, "Wow, sounds like a you problem".)
