About this deal

Not only does Rachel Smythe's talent as an illustrator shine in Lore Olympus but also her skill with weaving a steamy, often laugh-out-loud funny, and emotional retelling. I guess it's safe to say Hera and Hades are way up their game over here, they are hands down, giving off the best kind of energy. Persephone is young and beautiful as well as intelligent and very sheltered with a domineering mother who believes she knows best but in reality doesn’t know her daughter at all she’s not a child but a young woman yearning for more but incredibly codependent on her mother.

Without spoilers, there are triggering incidents, however these are dealt with the greatest of respect. Smythe adapts the story of Persephone and Hades, removing it from its dark origins and building a brand-new epic with her own complex and beautiful characters. Liv Albert, author of Greek Mythology: The Gods, Goddesses, and Heroes Handbook and creator of Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! BUT that does NOT mean that i'm going to NOT collect the gorgeous special edition print versions hehe. It's a bizarre world we live in when readers demand the look and story to be drawn/written in a way to match their own perceptions, as opposed to digging deeper and understanding the author's choices. This full-color edition of Smythe's original Eisner-nominated webcomic Lore Olympus features a brand-new, exclusive short story, and brings Greek mythology into the modern age in a sharply perceptive and romantic graphic novel. The characters are very dynamic and experience a whole range of emotions, really bringing them to life beyond the traditional tales. I pretty much have them all mapped out in my head, things like who is heading directly towards my 'I'll just pretend you don't exist' list and 'you have my full interest' list. Persephone and Hades must contend with fresh challenges to their burgeoning love in the fresh and funny second volume of the WEBTOON sensation which reimagines one of the most popular Greek myths in a vibrant contemporary setting. While he is feared by many he’s not a villain simply a man with a traumatic childhood that has left him scared he’s content with his life but not happy that is until he sees Persephone and everything changes.

Hades and Persephone: This book doesn't venture into anyone else's background, it's mostly them disecretly mooning over each other and trying to reason with all the pros and cons. I hope he tones down the douchiness, cause I'd really hate to hate my girl Artemis's brother, she's such a sweetheart.

It's paced as a soap opera, all drawn-out tensions and long-simmering secrets, and I, for one, am thrilled to be along for the ride. Lo stile di illustrazione è letteralmente il mio preferito, ma d'altronde si sa che Lore ha un posto specialissimo nel mio cuore. This is an ongoing story and the future for their relationship is sure to be something you will be excited for as 2 very different people grow together. You can read the entire Webtoon here, but also I do love having the physical copies of these as the art is stunning and really pops.
