About this deal

I was looking at getting something different and the resin bonded CBN stones at gritomatic or practical sharpening is what I’m leaning towards.

CBN’s qualities include high levels of high hardness, strength, abrasion resistance, and thermal and chemical resistance. In particular, CBN's high thermal stability and chemical resistance make it suitable for sharpening in conditions where synthetic diamonds are not normally employed. The broad, perfectly flat carbon steel embryo of this stone is coated with fast-cutting 400-mesh CBN on one side and finer 800-mesh CBN on the other.I used the 306CBN on a range of O1, A2 and PM-V11 chisel and plane blades, and was very pleased with its performance. I wonder if it would make sense to do something like get the metallic bonded CBN for your lower grits (say, up to 400), and then get resin-bonded CBN (or Venev, or Diamond Matrix) for the higher grits. After sharpening several knives with them on a spectrum of steels, I have some observations about their performance. With something like a simple Naniwa Multistone 1000 : one can literally grind all day with a creamy slurry created by just a few passes of a flattening plate like an Atoma and NEVER actually reach a strong burr or sharp apex. This is more noticeable with lower grits as the abrasive particles are larger, as you move to finer grits you're less likely to see the difference unless you are really looking for it.

That is interesting but perhaps you could share more information and someone aside from Cliff may have some insight?Purchasing cbn sharpening stone for HBM 20 mm professional drill sharpener / drill sharpening machine is extremely simple at Toolsidee. I don't have access to Cliff Stamp to discuss my findings when I used his plateau method for the 10 trials I did. You can run them under water or put them in water to do the flattening if you wish, but dry them off really well when you're finished. Ich ziehe die Klinge anschließend noch mit einem gelben belgischen Brocken ab, um eine hochglänzende Schneide zu erhalten. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The most intensive sharpening I see myself doing is either reprofiling an edge or repairing minor damage. The reason I'm suggesting you try the Gunny Juice as well is because it cut's way faster then any other emulsion I have tired and if you get a 2K metallic CBN stone you get a pretty refined edge off of that stone as it is and you could use the Gunny Juice to further refine your edge,Gunny Juice is great to use even after the Venev stones as well,I wouldn't mess around with other strop material the Jende nano cloth seem to last the longest for me and also give better result's. I have bonded diamond, bonded CBN, DMT, and the Spyderco CBN bench stone (among a bunch of others, let's not talk about that). Edge Pro Diamond Matrix Stones are used for sharpening knives on Edge Pro and Hapstone knife sharpeners.

These perform better in my opinion and experience than electroplated diamond stones, or diamond resin bars. The quality of the products does not correspond to the premium class that the Poltava Diamond Tools plant produces today :(. You can pay using Paypal, Klarna, Credit Card, Bank Transfer, SOFORT Banking, Giropay, iDeal, Bancontact / Mister Cash. With a CBN 400, one can literally raise a heavy and stubborn burr in seconds and spend 10's of minutes and multiple steps and stone progressions in trying to remove that burr and get a clean apex! And when restrictions on setting the microbevel were implemented I saw sharpness decreasing at a faster rate.
