Sun Woman by Jil Sander 75ml Eau de Toilette Spray
About this deal
The headiness of orange flower, ylang-ylang, and musk are the most prominent to me, grounded with piquant amber. It reminds the vibe of other perfumes of that period but its (suntan) lotion smell makes it timeless. I bought it based on reviews, but when I applied it, the scent of ylang-ylang hit my nose and I immediately wanted to wash it off. I was a heavy smoker then, and this perfume does remind me of what I used to smell like back then- Bain de Soleil sun cream and Parliaments.
s Sun was super-strong, and one of my favourite smells (which was lucky, because there was no hiding from it, ha ha! They say it smells like European sunscreen, and I agree that it smells a little like sunscreen, but I didn't know that sunscreens in the USA smell different from the ones here. I was a young teen and felt super grown-up doing that, especially when the handsome guy working in the bakery commented on how much he liked my perfume, as I passed him by. Or when it dries down, it smells like expensive body powder which a 1950s Hollywood star would have used.
I also get a hint of haven in here, witch to me evokes pics of glowing yellow fields in summer and picnics in the country side. I don't know why this would be considered a sunny or beachy scent, but I definitely get the 80s vibe.
I don't like cloying fruitchoulies like La Vie Est Belle, Lady Million or Black Opium at all, and the sweetness of this perfume is right at the limit of my sugar tolerance, so keep that in mind if that's not your cup of tea. I was sort of digging how weird it was until it just settled on being a sweet red bull and Jasmine perfume. Jil Sander Sun is a perfume that will transport you instantly to the seaside where the sun warms your body, the fresh breeze blows through your hair, and the sparkling sea cradles your thoughts.Sun may actually be a great fragrance to wear during the winter to evoke summer - much better than some kind of thin, short-lived summer cologne. Sun by Jil Sander is more my cup of tea, a suntanlotion type of scent without the typical coconut ingredient. It’s a favorite and I carry it with me as there’s really no sharp edge to it, but it’s also not childishly sweet. StinkySally seems to be very confused with her review since i m doubting very hard lancaster would put in a lancaster coffret a sander perfume? To my nose, JS Sun opens with a kind of weird combination of smells, the sweet African orange blossom clashing with a creaminess (the benzoin?
I do get why there is quite some confusion in the comments about it smelling of sun tan lotion or not, some expecting sun tan lotion to be more tropical (coconut-y) or even fruity smelling. The drydown is woody, creamy, moderatly sweet and musky and I get some -sandalwood,ambery vanilla, benzoin, tonka and musk. I really don't get all the body lotion, soft, summery and other understating adjectives, descripting this fragrance.
Sometimes I get more vanilla, other times more resins, others more florals, sometimes a creamy round, almost gourmand note that vaguely reminds me of marzipan, but not quite, and sometimes an interesting "fresh powder note" with an airy and vaguely sour quality which I enjoy. From now on at Perfume’s Club, you can find products sent by external sellers, always under Perfume’s Club’s quality criteria. It was in 2001 when I noticed it the last time on a woman who made an entire hotel lobby smell like her. I must be honest, it is SO SWEET that it is obnoxious- hence why I don't wear it out and about town. The first, initial phase is quite old school, but after 15 minutes or so, I can detect the sun lotion!
