Moon Knight Vol. 1: The Midnight Mission
About this deal
He also builds him an interesting supporting cast, complete with a new villain and a character who can best be described as a rival.
Quando foi anunciado pela Marvel que Jed MacKay iria assumir o novo título do Cavaleiro da Lua, eu vibrei de alegria, afinal ele havia dado uma abordagem muito legal para as histórias de Felícia Hardy, a Gata Negra. After the dreck that was the Age of Khonshu, we find a battered Moon Knight back to his old, street-level ways. I guess it's good I saved this one for last because apparently every other run before this was canon and mentioned? After a ransom attempt by some wanna be jigsaw knockoff he fights this guy and then we follow him confront a new enemy Zodiac and I love the whole reveal of how it happens, almost like the Joker to his Batman. Kind of bleak and also pretty hand-wavy when it comes to supernatural phenomena such as honest-to-God vampires running around midtown Manhattan, etc.Since then, Reese has taken point as the head of the Midnight Mission, even going as far as to wear Marc Spector's stark white suit—but she is quick to point out that she doesn't consider herself Moon Knight or in service to Khonshu. Alessandro Cappuccio’s art isn’t bad, though it’s not as striking as Steve McNiven’s covers unfortunately, and I suppose the stories are varied enough to not make for a relentlessly tedious read. The feline super hero Tigra, a former West Coast Avenger, is also part of the Midnight Mission's ongoing mission. Marc Spector, in whichever guise he dons, is back on the streets, a renegade priest of an unworthy god.
When Hunter's Moon made himself known, he breached the Mission and sought to kill Reese with her vampirized friends believing them natural enemies, but was brutalized and sent away by Moon Knight. Joining Moon Knight's cause, the House of Shadows became the new site of the Midnight Mission, occupying the same leasing space. But while Khonshu languishes in prison, Moon Knight’s duty still must be observed: the protection of those who travel at night. The Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his flock. In this first volume of this well-hyped series Moon Knight's therapy sessions are interspersed with the work of his Midnight Mission protecting his night-time neighbourhood from the likes of vampires and supervillains. Additionally, Hunter's Moon—Khonshu's other avatar—became a convert of the Midnight Mission following a confrontation with Moon Knight.
But then there are solo adventures with others, other confrontations we have him meet Tigra and the romance there plus he works for someone else. To help Moon Knight and Tigra from becoming overwhelmed, the undead Fists of Khonshu offer their support as well. Gain an expansive catalog of 30,000+ comics spanning Marvel Comics history, plus access your entire digital library including comics redeemed from print. Though not explicitly part of the mission, Moon Knight's psychiatrist Andrea Sterman has also been linked to its activities. Nice art, like the idea of MK having this mission where people from the neighborhood could bring their problems to him and he would go out and handle it.while another Fist of Khonshu appears (“Hunter’s Moon” which sounds like a cheap aftershave) only for Moon Knight to defeat him with a baseball bat to the head.
Também achei que era uma forma das histórias de Marc Spector e companhia limitada de personalidades terem um teor menos sombrio e esquizofrênico (no sentido literário e não patológico) como foram todas suas fases anteriores. He fights a group of vampires, as well as Some Guy who’s trying to control him by hacking his bank account. A mysterious foe attacks from an unexpected direction, an old friend comes to visit and Marc finds himself answering the same question over and over again: "Why do you wear the mask? Here is the origin of Moon Knight's Midnight Mission, the important people behind the organization, and its current and evolving role in the Marvel Universe. Moon Knight has opened a mission in his neighborhood and using it as a place for people to come ask for his help. But while Khonshu languishes in a prison that Moon Knight put him in, Moon Knight must still observe his duty: protecting those who travel at night. This isn't an Immortal Hulk-esque system of alters so much as a group of people working towards a common goal that all happen to be living in the same body, and the subtle changes when the dominant personality shifts are wonderful to behold. Mostly though I was barely engaged with this bland, forgettable comic - if you’re after some decent Moon Knight comics, check out the ones by Warren Ellis and Brian Wood instead. After he tried to take over the world for Khonshu (sigh), the Avengers have required that Marc Spector see a therapist.
