Die Story an sich ist relativ geradlinig und hat kaum überraschende Twists. Auch die ein oder andere Tatsache, die durchaus als Überraschung gedacht war, ist für Filmfreunde zu offensichtlich und hat eher ein „Hah, wusste ich es doch!“ als eine Überraschung zur Folge. Ant-Man ist der mittlerweile zwölfte Film, der zum Marvel Cinematic Universe (kurz: MCU, optional Erde-199999) gehört. Neben Guardians of the Galaxy ist es der einzige Film in Phase 2, der keine Fortsetzung bereits bekannter Franchises ist. Und wie schon bei den Guardians war auch bei diesem Film die Skepsis hoch. Zuerst war da die, für Fans überraschende, Wahl des zweiten Ant-Man aus den Comics an Stelle des Originals Hank Pym. Aber Pym war in den Comics eines der Gründungsmitglieder der Avengers und Erfinder von Ultron, passte also nicht wirklich in die Geschichte des MCU. Kleiner Held, großes Kino. Auch wenn kein Weltuntergang bevorsteht, steht Ant-Man den anderen Filmen in wenig nach. Vielleicht ist es auch gerade erfrischend, dass die Welt nicht vor einer Katastrophe steht oder eine Bedrohung gigantischen Ausmaßes zu bekämpfen ist. Nein, hier wird ein Mann von den Schatten seiner Vergangenheit eingeholt und muss gegen sie ankämpfen. Die Parallelen zu Iron Man sind nicht zu leugnen und auch gewollt. Sowohl der brillante Wissenschaftler Hank Pym als moralisch integres Gegenmodell zu den beiden Starks, als auch Scott Lang mit einer ähnlich jovialen, aber viel sympathischeren Art als Tony Stark, machen Ant-Man zu einer interessanten Alternative. Für Comicliebhaber ist hier interessant zu sehen, wie die Originalgeschichte verändert wurde, aber das begann ja auch schon damit, wer Ultron gebaut hat – denn eigentlich war das Hank Pym.Hope Pym ist eigentlich eine Antagonistin von Erde-982. Hier wird sie Red Queen genannt und geht aggressiv gegen Scott Lang vor *** Formidable Foes – bonus content on the film’s villains with particular emphasis on Kang and his impact on the future of the MCU. The film arrived at the box office on February 17th, 2023, so the Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date looked set for the end of May and mid-June later in the year. Early access digital is already available in the UK and it is due to follow on DVD, Blu-ray and standard digital on May 22nd, 2023. I knew from the outset that Ant-Man would be a very difficult movie to make. There was ample opportunity for the movie to be way too dependent on special effects, or that the special effects might turn out to be not so special after all, or that the whole thing might slide over the edge of a cliff into an unintended campy, B-style movie that would be reminiscent of the drive-in movie days --I'm 61, so I know all about drive-in's.

Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrives on Digital on April 18 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD May 16. Fans can add the film to their collection and access exclusive bonus content including deleted scenes, a gag reel, and audio commentary by director Peyton Reed and writer Jeff Loveness.

It could've been a little bit more funny at times. Originally Edgar Wright was going to direct but he left apparently because Marvel got in the way too much, which was a shame cause if he had directed this film, it would've been a lot more funny. But the final product we got was not that bad though. All In The Family – the Lang-Pym clan discuss their characters in the films and how they’ve evolved over the three films. spoiler]So kommt der Kuss am Ende des Films nicht nur für Hank Pym etwas überraschend, sondern auch für die Zuschauer. [/spoiler] Die Schauspieler Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll. Michel Pena machten ihre Sache sehr gut und brachten authentisch ihre Rollen vor. Vor allem bei M. Douglas war es eine Freude ihn so spielen zu sehen, er war einfach grandios und im Alter attraktiv. Anfangs mussten einige Schauspieler auf Jung getrimmt werden, was Douglas anzusehen war. Auch kommt wieder Stan Lee in einer kurzen Rolle in dieser Marvel-Verfilmung vor, diesesmal als Barkeeper.

Another big consideration is when Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania will come out on Disney Plus with expectations for it to be before the standard home media options. If the gap between this and its debut in theaters is too short then the value proposition breaks down, so there needs to be a decent gap for the UK Blu-ray, digital and DVD release date. Fokus dieses Films ist aber auch viel weniger die eigentliche Geschichte, sondern vielmehr die Charaktere und die Verbindungen zwischen Ihnen (Tochter, ehemaliger Protegé, nochmals Tochter). Das hebt ihn angenehm von der Effekthascherei anderer Superhelden-Filme ab.
