American actress Zimbalist plays lead character Anne Beddingfield (an Englishwoman in the book, by the way) as a kind of tough, adventurous and resourceful heroine in a nod to the Indiana Jones series, and is ably supported by Suzy Blair, played by McClanahan (who doesn't seem to mind playing her Golden Girls character, Blanche - Or maybe she was forced at gunpoint to do just that??). Dutton plays man-on-the-run Harry Lucas, a handsome Brit who possesses not only some important information, but a secret hankering for some down-and-dirty time with foxy Anne. Woodward has a ball (and I do mean a ball) playing crook Sir Eustace Pedler, and Tony Randall amuses as the fumbling, bumbling, and mumbling Pedler henchman/chameleon.

A tourist visiting Cairo witnesses a murder and after that sees a man in a brown suit fleeing the scene. She boards a ship and assumes that one of her fellow passengers is the criminal and that they also plan to steal a cache of diamonds. It starts on a mystery note, then, scales on to a thriller. First and foremost, this is not a typical Christie book, at least not one I'm used to expecting of her. I've known her as the "queen of the mystery". :) But now, I know that she had written few thrillers in her earlier days, and I've read two of them including The Man in the Brown Suit. Her thrillers are fun reads. They are also fast-paced and adventurous. Personally, however, I prefer her mysteries. They are clever and intelligent. Also, Christie is in her best element when she writes mysteries. Anne and Suzanne examine the piece of paper Anne obtained in the Underground station and realises that it could refer to cabin 71, Suzanne's cabin, originally booked by a woman who did not appear. Anne connects finding the film roll in Mill House with a film canister containing uncut diamonds that was dropped into Suzanne's cabin in the early hours of the 22nd. They speculate that Harry Rayburn is the Man in the Brown Suit.Nadina has double-crossed the Colonel, however, keeping some De Beers diamonds from a crime years before. The friendships (and romance) At one point, in this book our protagonist, Anne Beddingfield, meets a new acquaintance, and their friendship slowly develops over time into true companionship. Also, for those who like a little romance, there is definitely some present. It felt a little 'cheesy' at times, but sometimes, a little extra cheese is what you need. Their relationship was, to put, a little casually, very cute, although maybe it was a bit too much at times (especially when Anne immediately fell in love, claiming she loves him and wants to spend her life with him, when she literally just let him a couple of minutes ago, but still, it was heartwarming).
