About this deal

A balanced blend of N:P:K nutrients is ideal for during the cooler, spring weather for grass plants to utilise. If using granules, you will need to keep pets and children away from any treated areas until the granules have been watered into the lawn. Tools We suggest using either Nutrigrow Spring Lawn (granular) or the Spring Gem Fertiliser (soluble) from our fertiliser range. Both benefit from balanced formulations, giving your lawn everything it needs to help prevent weeds and moss from establishing. You can spread by hand or through a fertiliser spreader (see ‘How to use a fertiliser spreader’ guide for further guidance). If you are seeding a new lawn then it's highly recommended to use a Pre-seeder fertiliser prior to sowing the grass seed. Lawnsmith® Extra-LONG, Spring & Summer and Autumn fertilisers have a high safety margin and will not burn or scorch if applied when moisture is present in the surface soil. This means not having to worry about rain, weather forecasts or watering in! If the ground is dry or hard or the grass has stopped growing because it is dry then DO NOT apply. As I have said before, you will need to adjust how you apply the fertiliser according to the weather conditions. If it’s wet then growth will be good so you can apply a little higher towards the end of the scale and if dry, but still moist, you can apply a little lower on the scale. Know Your Numbers

This means as long as the the lawn is actively growing and the soil is moist. It may not have rained for a week and there may be no rain in the forecast but as long as there is adequate soil moisture present then it is safe to apply. Some fertilisers do need watering in if there is no rain and this will be noted on the label. If the soil is dry and hard consider holding off until adequately watered. Apply Before or After Rain? Lawnsmith® lawn fertilisers are blended to give the lawn the correct amount of nutrients over a period of time. The following programmes progressively increase the fertility levels: For liquid, autumn and winter feeding we stay with the more traditional nutrient mix so that your lawn will end the year with the correct nutrients it requires on an annual basis. Testing for clay or sandy soil? If using a weed killer concentrate on the whole lawn apply one to two weeks after applying fertiliser. If spot treating then apply when the weeds are ready. Feeding AND Seeding

The best choice for you

Don’t rush to apply. Let the grass tell you when which is generally when you start mowing regularly. Quite often in late winter or very early spring, you notice the grass finally starting to grow and so you give it a cut. It may be another 3 to 4 weeks before you mow again because it’s still cool and growth is slow. Once you get into a rhythm of regular mowing at least every 7-10 days (perhaps the fourth cut of spring) then is the time to feed. Summer Lawn Feed If you haven't seen this sort of damage before with your lawn in previous years, then it is worth getting a grass seed that suits your ordinary conditions whether that be a grass seed that is needed to be hard wearing or one that is suitable for use on a sports field. Also when you’re filling up your lawn spreader make sure you do so on a path or driveway. This prevents any granules from gathering in one spot on the lawn as this would just overfeed, burn and kill the grass in that particular area. Organic Or Synthetic Fertiliser? We then added Fertilisers to keep your lawns healthy and looking great all year round, and a huge selection of high-quality professional Weed Killers for hard surfaces, lawn use and for specialised treatments, along with Hard Surface Cleaners for algae & moss on multiple types of surfaces. ADDED NUTRIENTS - The added iron helps to ‘green up’ your lawn. The magnesium makes photosynthesis more efficient, turning more sunlight to energy & making the grass more green and lush. The seaweed adds essential minerals & breaks down the soil which helps to release more nutrient content.

Feeding the lawn in the early spring will strengthen its roots and gets it off to a good start before the heavy growing season. Plan to apply the fertiliser around when you first start sending your robotic mower out (or when you plan your first cut with your push mower), so at the beginning of April is your best bet. This of course depends on the weather conditions, but a good rule of thumb is to wait until you’ve mown a couple of times.Always apply fertiliser straight after cutting the grass. This means it’s got maximum time to settle into the lawn before the next cut.

Because there are so many different spreaders on the market it is impossible for use to provide settings for all spreaders. Therefore you're going to have to calibrate your spreader to our fertiliser so watch the video. The only products that will cause staining on hard surfaces are Green-up Ferrous Sulphate and Winter Green Fertiliser. All of our other fertilisers are safe on hard surfaces and will not cause staining.Apply our spring/summer fertiliser to the lawn - these fertilisers can help reduce the risk of diseases such as Red Thread If conditions are right, which means the grass is growing and there is moisture in the soil then it is best to apply Lawnsmith® Fertilisers straight after mowing. You can also apply before or after rain. Feeding AND Weeding You also need to consider if the fertiliser you are using is safe around your pets and animals as it could influence your fertilising schedule. You can carry out a soil analysis prior to fertilisation to know which one is right for your job. Fertiliser Equipment There are two types of lawn fertilisers to choose from. Organic fertilisers are more costly but have many advantages over the alternatives.
