About this deal

If it’s been more than 12 months, the warranty will have expired and I’m afraid you will no longer qualify for a free replacement. You may still have options anyway though, which are detailed further down. Your supplier may also be willing to send a replacement for a small fee so it’s worth asking anyway. Before trying that though, it’s worth seeing if you can self-recover. :) Its advantages over the Bright app are that its real or near real time whereas Bright app isn't and, in my experience, reports data from up to several hours ago even when refreshed multiple times. Bright is useful for historic data and graphs but I actually find Guy Lipmans program more useful for the same purpose. We’ve been working hard with our partners Chameleon Technology and Uswitch over the past few months to deliver a completely free-to-use, independent service that takes the guesswork out of household energy management, empowering our customers to have a holistic view of their energy consumption, providing budgeting capabilities.

It’s been less than 12 months since I had the IHD OR I’ve never had one at all, what’s my best option? With the need for action on energy consumption and decarbonisation more important than ever, the hope is that services like SmartThings Energy can help galvanise consumer interest in smart meters by empowering users to take action based on their energy usage data more easily. Chameleon’s technology enables smart meter data to be securely and privately populated in the SmartThings app. Making this data easily accessible to consumers will allow them to make meaningful changes surrounding energy in the home and ultimately may contribute to a lower carbon footprint. Chameleon Technology furthers its commitment to empowering individuals to make smarter energy choices They also mention an integration with uswitch in the future, which may be useful to assess what time of use tariff would be best based on customers real time usage. For the time being there are few tariffs available anyway.E.ON Next have chosen ivie Bud from Chameleon as our replacement in home display partner 🎉 Say Hello to the ivie Bud CAD IHD device... They have to be next to/near to the HUB. How else do they get real time data for electric? IVIE told me that wi-fi is just used as a diagnostic port…. mind you it’s hard to know who to trust when it comes to smart meters. Current company excluded...

Understanding energy usage and how to reduce it has been a difficult task for most households. With the ivie app, users can easily understand how and when they’re using energy in the home with activity breakdowns, reports and personal energy-saving tips and challenges. That is the policy as I understand it @ Johns . You always get your first IHD for free regardless of supplier, usually when the smart meters are initially installed. Likewise, you'll also get one for free if you move in to a new property and the previous customer ran off with the existing IHD. The other main one to trigger a free IHD is if yours develops a fault within the first 12 months.

Mike Woodhall, founder and CEO of Chameleon Technology, the company behind ivie, commented: “Understanding energy usage and how to reduce it is a difficult task for most households. With energy bills now reaching extreme levels, it is essential to improve our understanding of how we use energy in the home. The ivie app and ivie Bud were created for this exact reason: to make managing energy simpler, smarter and more personal. Accurate, real-time energy data is crucial for achieving this. With live data, people can make smart energy-saving decisions on the spot that bring genuine change to how they use energy.” Energy usage breakdowns clearly show which habits and activities, such as laundry or appliances that are always left on, are using the most energy in the home. Users are given a clear direction on what steps they can take next in each area through personalised energy-savings tips and challenges based on their energy usage.

Daily reading is the default currently, with half-hourly the default from 2025. The pairing process is ultra simple for 99.99% of people and I think I noted that in my review. It’s just the 0.01% who fall into my group where it doesn’t work so well. Highly recommended . “ Bright is the name of an App provided free of charge by Hildebrand Technology Limited which allows you to monitor your electricity or gas energy consumption.
