About this deal

Fast forward and they've long ago gone their separate ways. Inhabiting different worlds. Shaped by the hurt they bear. Yet neither can quite forget the other. Deep, rich, thoughtful. It reminded me of how I felt when I first read David Nicholls and Jodi Picoult. It's the Romeo and Juliet of our generation -- Gillian McAllister We're delighted to present an extract from Another Life, the debut novel by Jodie Chapman, published by Michael Joseph.

BBC Twelve brilliant books for a summer of reading - BBC

It was so beautifully written. The prose was lyrical and poetic in places without distracting from the narrative. There was a real warmth and wisdom to the story and it really tugged on my heart strings. As a reader, you surrender yourself to this impeccably created narrative and give yourself to the feelings in a way that I have not felt in way too long.Chapman w "Innym życiu" (tłum. Szymon Żuchowski) niezwykle sprawnie łączy przejmującą opowieść o dojrzewaniu, klasyczną "love story" w typie nowoczesnego "Romea i Julii". This is a little bit Sliding Doors, a little bit One Day, a little bit will-they-won't-they - and you're desperate for a happy ending. Jodie Chapman does a brilliant job of describing what happens when life gets in the way of love. A really special book -- Sara Cox Tutto questo finché la storia non mi ha portato a riflettere sul titolo, su quegli "esercizi di ricostruzione" che i personaggi sono costretti a fare su stessi, e allora mi è arrivata come un'illuminazione.

Book Review: Another Life – Jodie Chapman – Beverley Has Read Book Review: Another Life – Jodie Chapman – Beverley Has Read

The book provided an interesting look at religion and though it was never named, Anna was clearly a Jehovah’s Witness. Anna’s story highlighted that a person isn’t just one thing and people can’t be defined by their religion or relationship. Another Life by Jodie Chapman Review: Summary This is a novel about what it is like to live inside a prison of the mind and how to break out of it - if you can. I cannot recommend this book enough. I would go as far as to say this is the best book I have ever read. I know it will always have a special place in my heart. My heart was already almost broken at the very beginning, before we'd even been introduced to any character properly, and that is how I knew that I was reading a special book. I honestly feel like my words won't do this novel justice.

Between the Covers: 12 books for the summer

A beautifully written story of love in all its forms . . . The writing is stunning and intuitive, and the story is one I don't think I will forget * NB Magazine * Regardless of what his family life had been like growing up, he ruined and wasted years of Anna & Laura’s lives. It was hard to read how selfish and pathetic he was. And at the expense of two selfless, loving, lively women. Sara Cox The first series of Between The Covers sparked a national conversation about books, so I’m delighted it’s returning with another fantastic line up. Continuing BBC Arts’ commitment to books programmes, the series features a broad selection of genres and styles, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy." — Emma Cahusac, Commissioner, BBC Arts Però le famiglie dovrebbero essere maneggiate con cura. Perchè, come so bene, hanno la tendenza a rompersi." Stunning. Written with such poignancy, full of nostalgia, unspoken longing and the agony of wrong turns -- Beth Morrey
