About this deal

The HD 25 headset is understated in its style. Though these headphones have been around for decades, they remain timelessly modern and simple, with a clear-cut finish. Sennheiser has a fantastic reputation for manufacturing headphones that suit a range of professional applications. If you’re used to accessing consumer headphones with more warmth and bass response, then these headphones might sound a little odd at first. Be patient, you’re really getting a much more accurate response here. I still think that this should be a short article but that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t let my excitement show. The excitement right from the first time I listened to the 25 ALU, it’s like first love to the HD25 all over again. Yes the difference is slight, but boy, the improvement produces the legendary HD25-1 sound and makes it even better. For those of you familiar with the DT770 LE review, this review is pretty much going to take on the same tone. There is more to this anniversary editions, it seems, and I wouldn’t be surprised if like Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser suddenly decided to make this a standard, non limited product on their line up.

However, it’s unlikely that anyone with an interest in headphones, music production, or DJing won’t already know why the HD-25 headphones are so iconic so if you are in the right circles you might find yourself getting the knowing nod of approval. Comfort and isolation

With a bombproof design and detailed, balanced sound, the Sennheiser HD 25 are difficult to not fall in love with

The next variant is the Standard HD 25. This version has a swiveling ear cup, single-sided cable plus split headband. This version is the perfect balance between the cheap Light model and the more expensive top-of-the-line HD 25 Plus. This deluxe version is identical to the middle model but comes with an extra cable, spare earpads and a pouch to store the headphones in. For most people, the middle variant probably offers the best value for money.

It really drove me nuts and I had to replace them. Since I was mad at Sennheiser I went with a different brand, at which time I learned that I really like a coiled, detachable cable with ONE connection point, and that I prefer over-ear cups to on-ear. If you have a significant problem with the comfort of these headphones, you can sometimes find custom ear pads elsewhere. If the headphones have sound in only one ear or differing sound levels in each ear or the sound in general is not what you expected then it needs to be determined where the issue lies - with the headphones or with the audio source. The sound produced by the HD 25 can best be described as lively. It’s a superbly open and accurate sound with a frequency range that starts at a wonderfully low 16Hz and goes all the way up to 22kHz. Unlike headphones designed for mixing, the HD 25 do not have a flat response thanks to a noticeable boost in the midrange that pushes the sound forward and gives it extra punch. The result is a superbly tight bass and a sound that feels much larger and more energetic than the compact drivers would suggest. At first glance, it’s easy to be bewildered by the sheer amount of love and attention these headphones get. For those who upgrade to the 25 Plus, there’s the option to access extra cables, ear pads, and a bonus carry pouch. Build Quality Notably, the channel balance in these headphones is good, but you do need to ensure that you’ve got the position of the cans just right over your ears. The 70-ohm resistance does mean that you need to ensure you’re using the right source for your music.
