About this deal

Power cords are used in almost every device or machine which requires electricity. From toasters and kettles, all the way up to generators and giant industrial equipment. Cable assemblies may vary in length, but the electrical current will perform at the same high capacity regardless of the distance it will need to travel.

The dimensions and tolerances for connectors, appliance inlets, appliance outlets and plug connectors are given in standard sheets, which are dimensioned drawings showing the features required for safety and interchangeability. The first edition of IEC 320 was published in 1970 [2] and was renumbered to 60320 in 1994. [3] Terminology [ edit ] Earthed, 16A, polarized. This coupler is used for supplying power in IT applications where higher currents are required, for instance on high-power workstations and servers, power to uninterruptible power supplies, power to some power distribution units, large network routers, switches, blade enclosures, and similar equipment. This connector can also be found on high-current medical equipment. It is rectangular and has pins parallel to the long axis of the coupler face. Power cords are defined as any power cable which has had a connector installed prior to sale. There are versions that may have one connector and an unterminated end. Some assemblies may have a connector a plug. And some assemblies will even have 2 connectors (IEC lead extension). Depending on the application, there are various types to suit the needs. What are these cable assemblies used for?

Appliance inlet: "part of the appliance coupler integrated as a part of an appliance or incorporated as a separate part in the appliance or equipment or intended to be fixed to it". This kind of coupler is used by Roland Corporation for a couple of synthesizer and drum-computer models (for example: TR-909, D-50) and by Revox for many older models of their hi-fi equipment (for example, A76, A77, A78, B77, B225). Was also used heavily on Marantz hi-fi equipment in the 1980s and 1990s.The C17/C18 coupler is often used in audio applications where a floating ground is maintained to eliminate hum caused by ground loops. Other common applications are the power supplies of Xbox 360 game consoles, replacing the C15/C16 coupler employed initially, and large CRT televisions manufactured by RCA in the early 1990s. The C7 figure 8 power lead is a 2 pin power cable, when viewed end on it looks like a number 8. Often found on small electrical appliances like radios and CD players. C13 to C14 Power Extension Cables In addition the standards define further general criteria such as withdrawal forces, testing procedures, the minimum number of insertion cycles, and the number of flexings of cords.
