About this deal

In my testing, there isn’t a “best” model PS2 to use, as all seem to output the same quality video and audio. There’s talk that some models are more reliable than others, but overall there’s only a few models to outright avoid, all “slim” models:

Here are the solutions I have tried (when technically feasible) on a TCL 4K 65" TV, a Samsung 40" 1080p TV and a Samsung CRG9 monitor. SCPH-7500X& SCPH-7700X have some issues with both PS1 and PS2 games, but aren’t as bad as the 9000x. I am well aware that the best solution to obtain a clear picture is to get a simple CRT television coupled with a decent component cable. With that being said, there is no way I would put a huge cube in my office, on top of my other devices. I had to find alternatives.

a b c "Logitech Cordless Controller | PlayStation®2 System - PlayStation.com". Us.playstation.com. 2011-11-18 . Retrieved 2012-03-27. NeoGeo Online Collection Volume 6: Garō Densetsu Battle Archive 2/Fatal Fury Battle Archive Volume 2 NTSC-U version contains a hidden higher internal resolution mode activated by holding L1+L2+L3+ □+ ○ during startup. If done correctly, the initial legal screen should be displayed in purple color. [2] In most cases, PS1 discs can be run on a PS2 and perform identically. I’ll list the few shortcomings below, but for the most part, it’s exactly like playing the games on a PS1. No image will be displayed with component cables unless a 240p/288p-compatible monitor or other workarounds are used.

Some 480p capable RGB monitors can accept a RGsB signal, simply by toggling the external sync button off when RGsB is enabled. Many (if not all) Sony monitors that support 480p have this option. HD modes (480p and 540p) are switched constantly to 480i or 576i whenever something non essential is on screen (menus, movies, etc.). HD modes need to be enabled every time the game is started at the in-game option menu as the setting is not stored in the game save although the screen ratio option is saved. There are two different models of the DVD remote control that were released, which had minor differences. The first one to be released is the SCPH-10150 (some are labeled as SCPH-10170, 10171 or 97042 [8]). The second, SCPH-10420U/97076, [9] is visually and functionally identical apart from the addition of eject and reset/power buttons. The eject button only works on SCPH-100xx to SCPH-500xx PS2 models, as the slimline PS2 models had no motorized disc tray to eject. There are a few ways to use RGsB and there’s a chance you already have equipment that supports it!:Wireless Buzz! Buzzers - PlayStation 2, PS2 official peripheral". Uk.playstation.com. 2009-07-21 . Retrieved 2012-03-27. GBS-Control– The GBSc can accept all the PS2’s resolutions over the component video input and also supports motion adaptive deinterlacing. It’s a DIY solution, but excellent for PS2 users on a budget. HD Retrovision component cable + Retroscaler 2x (Chinese Retrotink 2x clone): The Retrotink deinterlaces the picture (to a certain extent)... and outputs 480p instead of the original 480i. It still doesn't look "good" by any serious measure, it's shaky, but it's already something and is better than the previous solutions.

Also just to let you know that my PS2 is modified with the first messiah chip if that makes a difference and its also the OLDEST PS2 available If your CRT only supports 15KHz signals (240p and 480i), use whichever cable is easiest; both will look the same. Once again, this isn’t recommended unless you absolutely need it…but here’s more information: http://www.dansprojects.com/ps2sync.html Uses the vert- method, meaning the top and bottom of the 4:3 image are actually cropped, meaning less visible viewing area than when played in 4:3.Official Sony memory cards are only available at a size of 8MiB. Later, Sony partnered with a third-party accessories company Katana to make Memory Cards that came in 16 MiB and 32 MiB. These Memory Cards were officially licensed products, as they have the PlayStation 2 logo and word-mark along with them saying MagicGate on them. HD Retrovision component cable: It may be more expensive and make big claims, but a component cable is a component cable. Same as the TNP component cable. Super jagged, interlaced and aliased. RetroTINK 2x M– Combining the component video cables linked above with the TINK-M will allow use of all the PS2’s resolutions, with optional scanlines and deinterlacing of 480i.
