About this deal

Everyone believes that Salil Singh killed his girlfriend, Andrea Bell, five years ago—except Pippa Fitz-Amobi. Damian was grateful not to have to look at the dead man any longer, but his relief faded at Forte’s next words.

Releases June 5, 2023 in Spain (Editorial Hidra), Fall 2023 in Poland (Wydawnictwo Poznanskie), Nov. 24, 2023 in Germany (Bastei Lubbe AG | Lyx ), with more to come! Lobb: I love it, too! At least for me, it’s all about the tension. When two characters have a fraught relationship, I think it’s natural to want to know how they’re eventually going to overcome that. What are they going to learn about one another that changes their opinions? Where are they going to find common ground (or not)? Now a murderer stalks Ombrazia’s citizens. As the body count climbs, the Palazzo is all too happy to look the other way—that is, until a disciple becomes the newest victim. With every lead turning into a dead end, Damian and Roz must team up to find the killer, even if it means digging up buried emotions. As they dive into the underbelly of Ombrazia, the pair will discover something more sinister—and far less holy. With darkness closing in and time running out, will they be able to save the city from an evil so powerful that it threatens to destroy everything in its path? We got the chance to chat with the author herself about the world of Ombrazia, Damian and Roz’s tempestuous relationship, and what we can expect from the sequel. Congratulations on your wonderful debut with “Seven Faceless Saints”, which is incredibly engrossing and unputdownable. How does it feel to be a young, published author and receive all the appreciation for your work? Does it feel the way you imagined it to be?M.K. Lobb: The hardest part of writing “Seven Faceless Saints” was definitely balancing the world-building, the progression of the murder mystery, and the character relationships. There’s so much to sift through when it comes to each, and I had to decide which elements were going to make the cut. I could have written an entire book solely about Roz and Damian’s relationship, or the history of Ombrazia, its politics, and its saints. I really had to think about what I wanted to include, and how I was going to include it in a way that fits into the narrative. As I said, there were a lot of drafts, and I ended up adding and removing stuff over and over again. I did end up having to cut a lot of scenes that showed more of the secondary characters because they just weren’t driving the plot. Doing that is always sad, but I tell myself revising is all about making tough choices. Especially when you have to stay within a certain word count! Overall, what was the hardest challenge you had to overcome while writing this book? Were there any significant scenes, ideas or subtle moments you deliberately excluded while drafting? Convenient, isn’t it,” Damian said, “that Leonzio turned up poisoned mere days after you two argued over a new policy initiative.” Damian now guards the Palazzo, the living and working quarters of the disciples of the seven saints, who offer skill and protection and command political control over the city. He works for his father, General Battista Venturi, amid a sea of spiritual leaders and devout, wealthy citizens.

In the city of Ombrazia, saints and their disciples rule with terrifying and unjust power, playing favorites while the unfavored struggle to survive. Don’t miss the atmospheric and sinister “Seven Faceless Saints,” an utterly addicting murder mystery fantasy woven with a tantalising romance that is unputdownable. SAINTS this was great. I was hooked from the prologue as soon as you knew someone had been murdered until the very last twist that completely took me by surprise… I loved everything about this from the worldbuilding to the magic to how badass Roz was and how sweet Damian was… This should absolutely be on everyone’s radar and I truly cannot believe this was a debut! It was everything and I need the next one asap.”DigiCom on Five SF Visions of Society Free From Rules, Regulations, or Effective Government 29 mins ago As Lane and Colton work to solve a series of mysteries at Godbole, their relationship becomes increasingly complex. Lane knows Colton is hiding something, and as the reader, so do we. Having access to both perspectives, it’s intriguing to watch the characters form misconceptions about one another as a romance blossoms and the tension builds to a head. Lane immediately assumes Colton hates her, but from Colton’s POV you learn that couldn’t be further from the truth. Meanwhile, they’re both constantly intrigued by one another. It’s a classic example of “Character A is down bad, while Character B has no idea.” Combine that with all the secrets primed to come to light, the reader is steeped in anticipation from the start, which makes the resolution all the more sweet—and painful. Discover what’s lurking in the shadows in this dark fantasy debut with a murder-mystery twist, perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo and Kerri Maniscalco.
